Biography
Heather Dudenbostel is a versatile singer and actress whose voice has been described by critics as “magnificent,” her acting as “touching and emotional,” and whose work has been praised as that of a “gifted comedienne.” She made her Off-Broadway debut in the rock opera, The New Hopeville Comics in the winter of 2009, and her Carnegie Hall debut as a featured soloist with Pacific Opera Repertory Company that spring. In 2010 Heather was asked to co-direct and perform Great Moments In Music, also at Carnegie Hall. This spring she appeared in a production of Ricky Ian Gordon’s Orpheus and Euridice at the Duo Theatre, which was listed by New York Magazine as an Editor’s Pick for Classical Music. Most recently, Heather played the role of Rapunzel in Into The Woods, a seminal production for the Mount Baker Theatre in Bellingham, WA.
Last year Heather appeared as Angela in Deflowering Waldo at The Drilling Company Theatre, as Julie in Showboat at the Mac-Haydn Theatre, and played the role of the Manager in the New York City premier of The Dress Rehearsal at Merkin Hall under the direction of Anthony Laciura. Additional New York credits range from Charlotte in A Little Night Music and the Duchess in the Gondoliers to the Berger and China Cup in Ravel’s L’enfant et les sortilege. Recent regional credits include Liz in High Society, Jill in Butterflies Are Free, Mrs. MacAfee in Bye Bye Birdie, Sophie in The Star Spangled Girl, Vi in Footloose, and Maggie in Cat On A Hot Tin Roof. Heather also directed and starred in the Whatcom Symphony Orchestra’s production of Robert Kapilow’s dramatic concert piece for children, Green Eggs and Ham, appeared as a soloist on numerous occasions with the Marrowstone Summer Music Festival, and has given the premieres of new works by composers Roger Briggs and Zach Redler. Heather is often seen performing at the NYC cabaret theatres The Duplex and Don’t Tell Mama.
Heather earned a Master of Music degree in vocal performance/musical theatre from New York University, where she was named the outstanding graduate of her class. Originally from the Pacific Northwest, Heather holds a Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance from Western Washington University. She now lives in Los Angeles with her husband, conductor and clarinetist Ryan Dudenbostel. She has a love of teaching and maintains an active voice studio. Second only to her passion for performing, Heather enjoys the challenge of inventing the world’s most delicious chocolate chip cookie recipe: not too crispy, not too soft—just right.
